The Black Leaf ‘HoneyComb' is an SG18 Percolated Billy with a splash guard, ice holder and built in second chamber on the front. SG18 equipment is usually much sturdier and takes longer to clog up during use when compared to an SG14 setup.
I have had the pleasure of using one of these for the past Month or so. The first thing that comes to mind is how to clean it. The only 2 parts that get really dirty are the air pocket in the first chamber between the cone and the water. The other part is the splash guard just beneath the ice holder. From personal experience you can make this billy look brand new again using rubbing alcohol (Isocol) & salt. If there is some really persistent build up then something like Eucalyptus Oil will help dissolve it. Only problem when using Eucalyptus Oil is the smell. If you choose to use it you pretty much have to persevere until the billy is totally clean and has no residue build up left. A rinse with rubbing alcohol(Isocol) & then flush with clean water. If you have cleaned it well it should now have the Sparkling Brand New Look and no smell of either Isocol or Eucalyptus shoud be present.
As a Billy I find it to be extremely smooth with a nice even draw due to all the little holes in the percolator.
The Black Leaf ‘HoneyComb' billy has no shotty which means you have to 'Lift the bowl' to clear the chamber. Sometimes when your eyes are bigger than your lungs it can be difficult to clear the chamber all in one go. When adding an Ash catcher be aware that whilst it will keep your main chambers water clean it makes it harder to clear the chamber because you now effectively have 3 chambers.
A bonus that not many people notice is that this Billy does not require a reducer stem like the majority of SG18 billys. If you take notice most standard looking SG18 billys have the connector for a cone but no stem to go down into the water. This is when a reducer stem is required. They come as straight stems or have diffuser slits or holes at the bottom.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of these for myself if someone in my circle had not already purchased it.
